Victor Contreras, Mexican, 1941-
Infinite Flight, 1995, Bronze, 15' high
Victor Contreras gave Storm King Art Center his 1995
bronze work titled Infinite Flight. Born in 1941, Contreras studied in Mexico,
the United States, and Europe. His work is represented in many public and
private collections in Mexico (the Government Palace in Chilpancingo, the State
of Guerrero, and the city of Guadalajara), the United States (the SASA Center in
San Antonio, Texas; the United Nations in New York City; and the Medical Center
of San Francisco in Los Angeles). He has received many official awards in Mexico
as well as in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Art Center is delighted to have its
first work by a Latin American artist included in the collection.
